Article 3 : More than 10,000 schools to have Internet by June 2014

KUALA LUMPUR: By June 2014, 10,019 government schools throughout the country will be equipped with high speed Internet access and virtual learning platforms.
Deputy Education Minister Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong said Tuesday that under the 1BestariNet project, schools would be supplied with fibre optic cable with a speed of 4mbps that could be upgraded to 20mbps.
"More than 600 schools located in the interiors or rural areas will be equipped with 'Very Small Aperture Terminal' (VSAT) with a speed of 2mbps that could be upgraded to 4mbps.
"The project could change the educational platform of Malaysia and close the digital divide between students in the urban and rural areas by providing education via Internet to all the people," he said when replying to a question by Er Teck Hwa (DAP-Bakri) at Dewan Rakyat here on Tuesday.
Er wanted to know the total amount of allocation programmes for schools not listed under the programme.
Wee said the National Economic Council had set aside RM660 million for the project to be implemented in all schools from next year.
He said the contractor selected to provide the facility was a licensed operator under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which has the capacity and expertise to provide broadband systems.
He said the contractor was the owner of the YES telecommunications network system.
Wee said the implementation of 1BestariNet was based on a study by theBCG Consulting Group. - Bernama

Opinion : It is a good choice to have internet access at school for students to complete their homework.  Because of high technology at this century, some homework are required to complete by using the net. Furthermore, materials that students need from net eventually further their knowledge.

Article 2 : Man, his wife and mother held for robbery, snatch theft, housebreaking

PASIR PUTEH: Three family members have been arrested for at least 30 cases of robbery, snatch theft and housebreaking.

State police chief Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said the male suspect, 19, his wife, 20, and mother, 51, were active in four districts since January.

"The three were arrested at the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport, Pengkalan Chepa and they were believed to be trying to flee to Sarawak at 10.30pm last night.
"All the suspects were remanded until next Sunday," he told reporters here.
Police found 131 stolen goods, including television sets, mobile phones, cameras, RM1,800 and robbery tools, hidden in their house in Kampung Gong Serapat.
Jalaluddin said police are tracking down the man's brother, 29, believed to be the mastermind.
The younger brother usually used a parang to commit robbery while the elder brother wait at the wheel to make a quick escape.
"His wife and mother will help to dispose off the stolen goods by selling them."
Two months ago, they gatecrashed a police roadblock in Tumpat forcing policemen to open fire but they managed to escape. - Bernama

Opinion : Because of lack of morality, robbery and house breaking happened and the male suspect had ruined his future. However, stealing is never a good choice. The man's brother should not asked his family to do all these instead of using all his time and find a proper and stable job.
